(Phnom Penh) – Investors in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. have formally appealed to Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice, calling for immediate action against Yamada Taihei, the company’s Japanese chairman, over allegations of large-scale financial misconduct and breach of shareholder trust.

According to the investors, Yamada allegedly manipulated property deals in Cambodia, diverting roughly USD 4 million for personal gain. He is also accused of orchestrating fictitious transactions, arranging loans totaling over USD 7 million using the names of major Japanese firms, and transferring part of the misappropriated funds abroad to an account under his wife’s name, Ye Jun.

Reports indicate that Yamada established multiple shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. He allegedly appointed nominees as company representatives while maintaining full control over all financial operations. Authorities suspect these activities may involve embezzlement, forgery, and potential money laundering.

In Cambodia, prosecutors have filed at least two criminal cases against Yamada and his associates, freezing numerous bank accounts and assets. Additional investigations are underway. Meanwhile, authorities in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States are reportedly examining related financial irregularities.

Through their letters, investors called on Cambodian courts to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation, protect victims’ rights, and hold the accused accountable. They also expressed concern that interference from influential figures could obstruct justice, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.

The investors stressed the importance of a fair and decisive legal process to prevent Yamada and his collaborators from evading responsibility and to guarantee justice is served.
